Don't get caught without a Fire-Bolt!

With Global Warming on the rise and Ocean Temperatures increasing, coastal Shark Attacks have become more intense in recent years, and likely to get worse in the future.

The need to keep sharks out of shallow waters and away from human activities is becoming even more important.

Now, the
Future-Spark R&D Center is proud to present their latest development in Ocean Safety Products.

Fire-BoltThe Fire-Bolttm is a High Powered,

Anti-Shark Repellent System for Surfboards and Buoys.

Using the advanced principles of Pulsed Powered Physics, a new generation of Shark Repelling Devices built into surfboards exceeds the capabilities of existing passive magnetic and low voltage electronic shark deterrents, both in range and intensity.

A few Words about Intensity when dealing with large Sharks:                Fire-Bolt will Shock the Sh!t Out of Sharks!

The idea of a “shark deterrent” suggests words like self-control, moderation, curb, curtail, check, hindrance, interference, obstruction, and intervention.

The Fire-Bolt Systemtm was developed with defining words like quell, overcome, suppress, subdue, crush, overwhelm, smother, overpower, stifle, and render unconscious.

Fire-BoltThe Fire-Bolt Systemtm is designed to launch high-powered, magnetic field pulses by switching on one of two high-voltage storage banks built into the surfboard. The resulting pulse starts within a microsecond and last for several milliseconds while abruptly reversing the high voltage E-field in the surrounding water. The pulse amplitude can be varied, but at full power, this signal is likely to be seen on Navy Sonar for dozens of miles around, making for an effective distress signal when pulsed with an S.O.S. pattern.

This Fire-Bolt Systemtm works on several levels at the same time. First, there is the “Noisy Power Supply Sound” which emits a constant electro-magnetic buzz that changes in tone with varying conditions. Secondly, two large-area electrodes inside the surfboard maintain a high voltage DC E-field around the surfboard. The surfer is safe and can never come in contact with these electrodes. The strength of this DC electric field can easily exceed the range of permanent magnets, making for a more effective repellent than a local deterrent.

The third and most abrupt aspect of the Fire-Bolt Systemtm is its magnetic pulse capability. Keeping the system on the lowest setting and frequency throughout the day sends a warning out on a regular basis for sharks to stay out of the area, and purposely extends the battery life. However, at a moments notice, both the Intensity and the Frequency can be increased to levels that will stun a nearby shark’s senses into total shut down. It is like having a million-watt flashbulb go off in your face every second, the shark is blinded into basal confusion, its own subconscious motor response temporarily paralyzed. At close range, this high-powered system will train the blinded, stationary shark to fear for it’s own of life for the very first time, and gives the surfer plenty of time to paddle away. With enough distance, the shark will recover its senses and swim as fast as possible away from that “loud-painful thing”.

Magnetic Pulse in a Toroidal Plasma Field

This photo shows the first few microseconds of a magnetic pulse in a plasma field. This is a visual image of the magnetic pulse launched by the Main Radar Coil in the Fire-Bolt Systemtm.

Below is more representative of what the shark will feel when the dual electrodes fire a high voltage field at the same time. You can view a more accurate image and detail description here of the real E-fields during the high voltage pulse from the Fire-Bolt Systemtm.

Electric Arcing follows the E-Field Lines

Given this shocking experience just once, any newly conditioned sharks will recognize the Noisy Power Supply Sound in the future and stay as far away as possible. Like being stung by an unknown animal in the wild, -once is all it takes. From now on, one Fire-Bolttm Surfboard can protect dozens of surfers and swimmers in the same area. Also, the Future-Spark R&D Center has proprietary plans for more permanent, solar-powered installations on piers and buoys.

Fire-BoltThe Fire-Bolttm is the first High Powered, Anti-Shark Repellent System.

The Fire-Bolt Systemtm utilizes high voltage, pulsed power technology built into surfboards to command a significantly larger territory in repelling sharks with stronger electromagnetic fields than current technologies. This pulsed powered system has the added advantages of farther field propagation, greater impact on sharks’ senses, and longer battery life during standby.

The Electric Fields change during the Magnetic PulseThe Fire-Bolt Systemtm employs two charged banks. Upon command, the Fire-Bolttm discharges one of the H.V. banks into the Main Radar Pulse Coil. This generates large, sharp magnetic pulses into the surrounding water. At the same time, the DC static electrodes undergo a rapid transition from a H.V. Dipole field to the opposite DC polarity as a Monopole, causing a high-powered ripple effect in the local E-field. The second bank is still charged and ready to fire.

Now, the Shark becomes the prey.

The unique Physics of a strong magnetic pulse, an extremely sharp rise-time in the DC E-field, and the rapid decay of a H.V. Dipole field produces a harsh warning sign that is completely un-natural to the sharks’ 100M-year-old sensory array. More importantly, these Electro-Magnetic pulses are million’s of times stronger than anything sharks currently sense in Nature. This E-M burst will instinctively scare the living fear out of them. It is something that appears absolutely Goliath to them; something sharks will not be able to evolve beyond within several millennium.

The following analogy can help put the Fire-Bolt Systemtm into perspective with other electronic and magnetic shark deterrent devices. The electro-magnetic sensitivity of most sharks is under 10 nanoVolts/cm. (ten billionths of a volt across a 1/3 of an inch). This is roughly equivalent to sensing the lightest piece of a down-feather. Most of the shark deterrent devices available today are more of a nuisance than an actual hard persuasion. These devices are more like waving a sharp twig or tree bough in their way. This is not always convincing to larger sharks.

In contrast, the Fire-Bolttm is designed more like an electro-magnetic sledgehammer on the low setting, and more like a wrecking-ball on the high setting. A shark’s only chance of avoiding serious sensory pain is to stay as far away as possible, 100’s if not 1,000’s of yards out of their so-called “hearing” range. The distinct characteristics of this E-M pulse are shown in Figure 1.

Fire-BoltThe Fire-Bolttm System Controls

Timer Setting: This sets the frequency between automatic pulses, from 1 pulse per second to approximately 1 pulse every hour. Should the charge on the DC electrode plates drop below 50%, the system will fire again and reset the DC electrode voltage to the Intensity Setting.Sharks will feel more sensory pain the closer they get to the Pulse Coil.

Intensity Setting: Figure 2. shows the level of voltage that will be applied to the Main Radar Pulse Coil when the system is discharged. The Intensity Control can be varied between 50VDC and 240VDC. All High Voltage Cautions and Safety Interlocks must be in place before the Fire-Bolt Systemtm will charge up and fire.

Variable Input: Any additional signal may be added to the Timer to produce a seemingly random pattern of pulsed discharges. This adds to a level of “unpredictability” that further prevents the sharks’ senses from becoming acclimated to these purposely-invasive E-M field pulses.

Panic Button: Under normal conditions, there are two power banks fully charged and ready to pulse the Main Radar Pulse Coil. Hitting the Panic Button twice will discharge twice into the coil immediately. After that, at least a second is required for each power bank to re-charge alternately in order to fire more power pulses continuously. This generates a constant barrage of painful, over-stimulated E-M pulses every second that can incapacitate the sharks’ basal brain functions, forcing temporary sensory “blindness”, disorientation, incapacitation, and catatonic response. This allows plenty of time for the surfer(s) to get farther away and signal for help.

The safest place is in the center of the Magnetic Field.

The surfer is actually standing in the safest place, in the center of the toroidal field produced by the Main Radar Pulse Coil. Most of the energy is focused into the water due to its much higher conductivity. Moreover, Humans do not have the extreme sensitivity to electro-magnetic waves that sharks do. These pulses are designed to overload the sharks’ sensory perceptions only, not actually physically harm them in any way.

Battery Syatem: This is a paramount aspect for extended safety. Only one battery is used at a time. As with any system, as the battery wears down, so does the signal. This droop in signal intensity can be sensed by the sharks, which are now both confused and curious. Any sign of diminishing signal strength will bring their curiosity closer. When the primary battery reaches roughly half power, the second battery will be automatically switched on, bringing full power back to the pulsed-discharges, again surprising the sharks’ senses into “fearing-for-its-own-life”, and causing another immediate retreat. This second battery, this ‘second-wind’ of intensity is paramount in convincing the sharks they are still the prey. It is also a good sign for the surfer(s) to return to shore.

Battery Life: This is mostly dependent on the amp-hour rating of the batteries used. Secondarily, the Frequency and Intensity Settings are important. When on standby, the high efficiency of this pulsed-powered system should extend one battery life to 24 hours or more. However, firing maximum pulses every second under emergency conditions should last for 2 hours or more before the second battery is required. This is more than enough time to stun any local sharks into a coma and still show up on the Coast Guards sonar.

The Fire-Bolttm Product Line is now ready for fast-track product development and production, to be marketed worldwide with various models and product trade names. The circuitry has been verified thoroughly with software simulations, the PCB layout has been planned, and key components have been chosen. The next phase includes purchasing the necessary parts and building prototypes for testing. A modest investment could expect solid results in 2-3 months.

Future-Spark R&D Center will be seeking Crowd Funding for the initial start-up costs, the first set of prototypes, and detailed testing. Please view us on ____________________________ We will be asking for assistance with materials, funds, and network publicity. After documenting the Fire-Bolttm on the test bench, several real-world tests will have to be staged and filmed. This 6-8 month program will cost a great deal more.
